A MONTH OF COLIVING IN CABRERO, A SMALL VILLAGE IN VALLE DEL JERTE

1 – 29 AUGUST | CABRERO, SPAIN

For one month, Cabrero becomes your place to live and work.

You can work from La Toza, a house in the village designed for remote work and shared living.

Life follows the rhythm of the village. Mornings are for focused work. Afternoons open up to the valley, the water, the mountains, or simply time outside. Evenings are for shared dinners, conversations, and everyday life in the streets of Cabrero.

There is no fixed programme. In the afternoons, anyone can propose something: a walk, a workshop, exploring the valley. The month takes shape through what people bring and what happens when they meet.

You are welcome to bring your own projects, and also to let them evolve here. Many of the best ideas come from the people you meet, from the table you share, from the village itself.

Throughout the month, we prepare Plena Moon together with the people of Cabrero: a full moon gathering that grows from this shared time and becomes part of the village.

What happens in August does not stay within La Toza. It becomes part of Cabrero.

HOW PLENA MOON ARRIVED IN CABRERO

Its arrival in Cabrero was part intuition, part destiny. During a gathering in Cáceres linked to the city’s bid for European Capital of Culture 2031, we at La Toza experienced the spirit of Plena Moon firsthand. It was one of those quiet, unmistakable moments of clarity: we immediately felt that this way of inhabiting the night—placing culture at the service of environmental awareness—belonged naturally in the Valle del Jerte and resonated deeply with this moment in our rural community.

On March 3rd, 2026, at 8:00 pm, Cabrero experienced its first Plena Moon. Little by little, the ornamental lights faded, and the village was wrapped in a different kind of glow—softer, older. The moon slowly took its place above the valley as the square filled with people stepping to share a moment together. There was art, there were words, there was music. And a feeling of being part of something simple, yet deeply meaningful. Under the white light of the full moon, different generations came together to honor the Moon, culture, and community.

To stop moving fast from place to place, and instead start noticing the small things that shape everyday life in a village.

To recognise faces. You greet people in the street. You share tables, meals, and conversations that wouldn’t happen in passing.

To let ideas evolve. Projects that arrive with you start to shift, influenced by the people you meet and the place you are in. Nothing stays exactly as planned, and that is part of what makes it interesting.

To take part in a shared process that slowly builds towards Plena Moon, a full moon gathering created together with the village.

A month is not a break from life. It becomes a different way of living it.
