Support for Digital Nomads in Extremadura: Rural Remote Work with Benefits
Extremadura is making a strong push to attract digital nomads and professionals who want to settle in the region and work remotely. With a budget of €2 million, the regional government aims to boost the local economy—especially in rural areas—and promote innovation through digital talent.
Who Can Apply?
These grants are aimed at remote workers, whether freelancers or employees, who live outside Extremadura and decide to move to a municipality in the region. To qualify, applicants must:
– Have lived outside Extremadura for at least six months before applying.
– Register as a resident in an Extremaduran municipality.
– Be able to work exclusively in a digital capacity.
– If a foreigner, hold a valid NIE (foreign identification number).

Grant Amounts
The program is divided into two phases:
First year: grants of up to €10,000, with priority for women, people under 30, and those moving to municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants.
Second year: if the nomad remains registered and active in Extremadura, the grant can increase to a total of €15,000.
These grants aim not only to attract talent but also to encourage long-term settlement and connection to the region. (Source: Extremadura Empresarial)
